Evergreen shrubs or small trees to 6 feet with glossy, dark green leaves and fragrant, white flowers. Zones 8 - 10. august beauty (Gardenia augusta 'August Beauty') - A bushy grower with numerous large, fragrant, double, soft white flowers. daisy (Gardenia augusta 'Daisy') - A very nice, dwarf grower to 3 feet with multitudes of large, flat, fragrant, single, white flowers. dwarf (Gardenia augusta 'Radicans') - A miniature form of low, mounding habit with 2 inch wide, white blooms and small, glossy, dark green leaves. dwarf variegated (Gardenia augusta 'Radicans Variegata') - This mutation of 'Radicans' has grey tinted foliage that is edged and mottled in off-white. frost proof (Gardenia augusta 'Frost Proof') - This fine, semi-dwarf clone to 3 feet has foliage very similar to 'Radicans' but is more upright in its growth. Also, the flowers, though double, are larger.
